Rat Model Establ ishment of Brain Radiation Injury

  • Objective  To establish an animal model by which study on the brain radiation injuries. Methods  Forth New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided four groups and irradiated by 6 MVX ray at a single dose of 10, 15, 20 and 30 Gy. Three-dimensional reconstructed images were set up assisted CT. The designation of therapy plans and adjustment of dose distributions on the same pre-irradiation target areas with the volume about 1 cm ×1 cm ×1 cm were all by ways of three dimensional conformal radiation therapy plan system( TPS) . Results The isodose curve showed that 100 % target volume were covered with 95 % isodose outline. The dose distributions were uniform and the irradiation volume was about (1 ±0. 03) cm3 . Conclusion  The rabbit model appears to be an excellent model for study on the brain radiation injury.
