The Surgical Treatments of Sternal Malignant Tumor

  • Objective  To study the clinical manifestation, diagnosis and surgical treatment of sternal malignant tumor. Methods  The clinical manifestations, X-ray, operation methods and prognosis were anlyzed by ret rospectively summarizing 13 cases of sternal malignant tumor from 1994 to 2004. Results  There is no death of operation and all patient s were discharged from the hospital. Four patient s were still alive following up for 5 years. Conclusion  The surgical resection is the best t reatment to sternal malignant tumor. The prognosis has significance relationship with the size of tumor, the local invading and the differentiation degree of carcinoma cells.
