Expressions and Significance of Ezrin and AKT2 in Human Breast Cancer Tissue

Abstract: Abstract:Objective To investigate the expressions and clinical significance of Ezrin and AKT2 in human breast carcinoma. Methods The expression of Ezrin and AKT2 in 56 cases of breast carcinoma and 30 cases of adjacent nontumor normal breast tissue was examined by SP immunohistochemistry method. The relationships between these two factors and the clinicopathological factors were evaluated. Results (1) The positive expression of Ezrin and AKT2 in 56 cases of breast carcinoma was 62.50% and 76.79% respectively. There was a significant different between carcinoma and normal breast tissue(P<0.05).(2) The overexpression of Ezrin in breast carcinoma had no relationships with the size of primary tumor, age and pathological type; while had some relationship with histological classification, clinical TNM staging and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05).The expression of AKT2 was correlated with lymph node metastasis (P<0.05); while no relationship with age, size of primary tumor, histological classification, clinical TNM staging and pathological type (P>0.05).(3) Ezrin and AKT2 were significantly and directy correlated with each other in invasive ductal carcinoma. Conclusion The overexpression of Ezrin and AKT2 may play an important role in the carcinogenesis and progression of breast carcinoma. They may be considered as the indications of biological behavior and prognosis of breast carcinoma.
