Abstract:
patients of the esophageal cancer treated by radiotherapy from Aug 1982 to Dec 1986 were analysed. The 1-,3-,5-,and 7-year survital rates were 54.7%,20.3 %,10.5%,and 6.7%,respectively. The factors relative to long-term survital rate are as follows. The shorter tumor lenth, the higher survital rate.(The degree of extra-esophageal invasionand an incubation metastasis of the tumor were not considered.)the prognostic X-ray typing, in decreasing order, was fungating, medullary ulcerating and stenosing. The 7-year survital rate of 0upper segment cancer of esophagus was higher than that of the lower segment.Patients with supraclavicular metastasis did worse than those without. If esophageal cancer patients had thoracalgiaor dorsoalgia, their prognosis would be poorer than thhose without.
