Abstract:
We used ROC as a tool to investigate the total and Lipid-bound sialic acid levels in lung cancer.A total of 104 patients with primary lung cancer who had not under-gone treatment were evaluated along side 103 patients with benign pulmonary disease. At the established cut-off levels in serum for TSA and LSA which were respectively 76mg/dl and 23mg/dl.The mean concentrations of TSA and LSA were significantly higher in lung cancer patients when compared to non-cancer control. The sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic effence,ROC AUC and information content for TSA and LSA were compared. The ROC analysis for TSA and LSA indicated that determinations of TSA and LSA in serum were not diffenet significantly for distinguishing patients with or without lung cancer (P>0.05).
