Abstract:
Objective To study the prognostic value of the expression of p53,c-myc and bcl-2 protein in cervical carcinoma treated with radiotherapy.
Methods The expression of these three oncoproteins was detcdted immunohistochemically in 40 uncontrolled cases and 40 matched curable cases.
Results The study showed that p53 oncoprotein expression was not significant difference between the two groups.c-myc expression was significantly higher in the uncontrolled group than in the curable group and bcl-2 expression lower in the former than in the latter.
Conclusion It is suggested that the detection of c-myc and bcl-2 oncoproteins in cervical carcinoma before radiotherapy can be used to predict prognosis.
