Abstract:
Objective To investigative the HPV infection in esophageal carcinoma in Henan emigration of Hubei Zhongxiang and Hubei native residenter, and their relations to progression of esophageal carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemical analysis was performed in 82 human esophageal carcinoma tissue. The adjacent normal esophageal mucosa was used as normal cont rols. Results The PV positive rate was 75 %, 68. 18 % and 72. 5 %, respectively in esophageal carcinoma tissues f rom Zhongxiang, Hubei Macheng and Hubei cancer hospital. The HPV positive rate was 45 %, 36. 36 % and 37. 5 %, respectively. The PV and HPV were negative in all the adjacent normal esophageal mucosa. No correlation was found between existence of HPV in esophageal squamous carcinoma tissues and in grade Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲesophageal squamous carcinoma cell. Conclusion HPV positive cells can be found in Hubei Zhongxiang and the other areas. The HPV infection might be, involved in the pathogenesis of squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus in some regions.
