Abstract:
Objective To investigate the expression and the clinical significance of survivin proteins in tissues of prostatic carcinoma. Methods Expression of survivin proteins were detected by immunohistochemiocal technique in tissues of 42 cases of prostatic cares of prostatic carcinima ( Pca) and 10 cases of normal prostate (NP) . Results The overall expression rate of survivin in prostatic carcinoma was 80. 5 % (34/ 42), while the the positive rate of survivin expression was 100 % (12/ 12) 、88. 24 % (15/ 17) and 3. 85 %( 7/ 13 ) in the high, middle and low differentiation prostatic carcinoma respectively, it was 65. 22 %(15/ 27) 、100 %(19/ 19) in stage A-B and C-D respectively, and it was 100 %(16/ 16) 、69. 23 % (18/ 26) in prostatic carcer with lymph node metastasis and without lymph node metastasis. In cont rast, ormal prostate did not express surviving proteins. Conclusion survivin is positively correlated with the stage of prostate cancer as well as with the differentiation. It plays an important role in prostatic cancinogenesis. Detection of survivin protein expression can help to reveal the biological behavior of prostatic carcinoma and provide prognostic information for the patients.
