Abstract:
Objective To explore the characteristics of 1HMRSI and its diagnostic value on meningioma. Methods Both the findings of 1HMRSI of meningioma and that of opposite side were comparatively analyzed. The imaging sequences included axial T1 and T2 weighted imaging. Additionally T1 weighted imaging with injection of the contrast agent of Gd-DTPA was performed in all meningioma cases. ResultsOn conventional precontrast MRI, the signals in 16 meningioma cases showed iso or faintly hypointensities and in 4 cases showed heterogeneous intensities on T1WI. On T2WI, the signals in 14 cases showed iso or faintly hyperintensities and in 6 cases showed mixed intensities. After injection of Gd-DTPA, the solid portion of tumors exhibited obvious enhancement in all meningioma cases. “Dural trail sign” was revealed in 9 cases.Compared with the opposite side, 1HMRSI of all meningiomas revealed different spectral peaks, including absent acetylaspartate(NAA), prominent choline (Cho) (P<0.05), and reduced phosphocreatine (Cr) (P<0.05). The ratios of Cho/Cr (P<0.01) obviously increased. The peak of lactate (Lac) was visualized in two meningioma cases. The peak of Ala were found in 9 cases. Conclusion The 1HMRSI of meningiomas is characteristic and 1HMRSI can be an important supplemental means in the diagnosis of meningiomas.
