Abstract:
In the past decade, the incidence of thyroid cancer has increased faster than other cancers, but without a corresponding change in the mortality rate. Now thyroid nodules have become a common clinical problem, therefore overdiagnosis and overtreatment have increased accordingly. In 2017, US Preventive Services Task Force(USPSTF) updated the recommendation on the screening for thyroid cancer. The USPSTF recommends against screening for thyroid cancer in asymptomatic adults. The updates of the USPSTF recommendation statement are interpreted in this article.
