Abstract:
Objective To explore the levels of serum inflammation related cytokines in patients with gastric cancer and the correlations among them, as well as their association with different clinical characteristics.
Methods Forty-six patients with gastric cancer (gastric cancer group) and 30 healthy people (control group) were included. The expression levels of serum IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-7, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, IL-13, IL-17A, IL-21, IL-23, TNF-α, IFN-γ and GM-CSF of the two groups were measured by high throughput liquid chip technology.
Results The levels of serum IL-8, IL-17A, IL-7 and TNF-α in gastric cancer group were higher than the control group(4.50(10.38) vs. 2.06(3.17)pg/ml, P=0.002; 0.83(2.01) vs. 0.21(0.85)pg/ml, P=0.013; 3.46(1.90) vs. 2.11(1.48)pg/ml, P=0.001; 1.21(1.13) vs. 0.79(0.37)pg/ml, P < 0.001). The difference of serum cytokines between lymph node group and non-lymph node group in gastric cancer was not significant(P > 0.05). There were correlations between several cytokines.
Conclusion The high levels of serum IL-7, IL-8, IL-17A and TNF-α may play a role in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer. High levels of serum IL-8, IL-17A and TNF-α may be the poor prognostic indicators.
