Abstract:
Head and neck cancer is one of the common malignant tumors. Radiotherapy can not only achieve an ideal effect, but also preserve the appearance and function of patients, so it plays an important role in the treatment for head and neck cancer patients. Helical tomotherapy(HT) is a new intensity modulated conformal radiotherapy(IMRT) technique developed in the last decade. It has been initially used to treat nasopharyngeal carcinoma, oropharyngeal cancer and other head and neck cancers. Comparing with the conventional accelerator IMRT, HT showed certain advantages in dose coverage of targets, sparing of organs at risk and so on.
