Abstract:
Salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) is one of the common types of malignancies in head neck region. With high aggressive potential,SACC tends to invade blood vessels and nerves at an early stage and is prone to recurrence and distant metastasis.Yet, there are no effective therapies for patients in the late stages which have no indication for operation.RNA interference (RNAi) is a gene-silencing technology, resulting in the sequence-specifi c silence of target gene effi ciently and specifi cally. It has been applied widely in the research of various tumors. RNAi technology has been successfully used to inhibit SACC by suppressing the expression of oncogenes, anti-apoptotic factors and factors associated with adhesion and metastasis. This review describes current research progress of RNA interference inhibiting salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma.
