Abstract:
Objective To explore the role of partial hepatic resection for the limited liver metastases from nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods Partial hepatic resection and the clinical follow-up study were performed on 4 patients with limited liver metastases from nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Results Diffuse liver metastases and bone metastases were observed in the 10 months and 12 months after surgery.Patient with diffuse liver metastases eventually died in 24 months after surgery, however, all 4 patients survived for more than one year postoperatively, and there were still two patients survived to the present with the state of the tumor-free, up to 26 months. Conclusion Surgery is a safe and effective treatment to the nasopharyngeal carcinoma with limited liver metastases, and it could used as an important means to cure the nasopharyngeal carcinoma patient with limited liver metastases in the future.
