Abstract:
ObjectiveTo study the status of thoracic mediastinal lymph nodes metastasis in patients with cardiac cancer. Methods The data of lymph nodes from 63 patients with cardiac cancer and lymph nodes resection from June, 2008 to October, 2009 were prospectively analyzed. Results The rate of metastasis of lymph nodes was 20.63% in thoracic cavity and 66.67% in celiac cavity, respectively. Thoracic mediastinal lymph nodes metastases correlated to tumor diameter, depth of tumor invasion, lower esophagus with tumor invasion and celiac lymph nodes. Multivariate Logistic Regression Analysis showed lower esophagus of tumor invasion was the most important influencing factors. ConclusionThis study showed that the lymph node metastasis of cardiac cancer tended towards celiac and thoracic cavity, both thoracic and celiac systemic lymphadenectomy are necessary.
