Abstract:
Objective To investigate both the clinicopathologic significance of the expression of caveolin-1 in the renal clear cell carcinoma and the corelation between the expression of caveolin-1 and microvessel density. Methods The expression of caveolin-1 detected byimmunohistochemistry method, while the microvessel density was assessed using immunohistochemistry method by marking CD34. Results In the renal clear carcinoma, the positive rate of caveolin-1 was 67.4%, the overexpression of caveolin-1 was not related with gender and age, but was related with clinicopathologic parameter, such as tumor sizes, clinical TNM stage, nuclear stage and survival time( P <0.05). The MVD of cases with positive caveolin-1 was significantly higher than those without caveolin-1 expression( P <0.05). Conclusion The expresion of caveolin-1 is helpful in the prognostic evalution of renal clear cell carcinoma and it may be involved in the angiogenesis of the renal clear cell carcinoma.
