Abstract:
Objective To study the expression of survivin in breast cancer and its relationship with Caspase-7 and clinicopathological characteristics. Methods The expression of survivin and Caspase-7 in breast cancer paraffin-embedded specimens was detected by immunohistochemical technique(SP).The relationship between survivin and clinicopathological characteristics were analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of survivin and Caspase-7 proteins in breast cancer was 62.0% and 81.7% respectively, and there was positine correlation between than (
r=10.22,
P<0.01). There was significant difference in the positive expression rate of survivin and Caspase-7 proteins between breast cancer and benign lesions (
P<0.01). There was a significant correlation between survivin expression and tumor size and lymph node involvement(
P<0.01), but no obvious with other pathological characteristics. Conclusion High expression of survivin and its significant correlation with tumor size and lymph node involvement can be found in patients with breast cancer. survivin may contribute to the proliferation of breast cancer cells through inhibitiing the expression of Caspase-7.
