Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effect of Sonodynamic Therapy (SDT) with Chlorine e4(e4) on S180 sarcoma in mice. Methods The mice with S180 sarcoma were injected intraperiton eally with e4(40mg/kg). Six hours later, 1.0MHz ultrasound was used to irradiated the tumor area for 180s. The intensity of ultrasound was 0.4W/cm
2respectively, 0.8W/cm
2, and 1.6W/cm
2 respectively. Then the volume of tumor was onitored every 2 days. The tumor bearing mice were allocated to following groups: (1) sham-treatment (control, C); (2) ultrasound treatment (only ultrasound treatment, 1.6W/cm
2, without e4 U); (3) e4 treatment (e4 40mg/kg, ip) without ultrasound treatment, e4); (4) e4 + ultrasound treatment (eU). Results The tumor growth was significantly inhibited in eU group, and with the increase in ultrasound intensity the inhibitory effect was enhanced in ultrasound intensity range of 0.4 to 0.8W/cm
2. Conclusion SDT with e4 could inhibit growth of mouse S180 sarcoma and the inhibitory effect was sound intensity-dependent in some range of ultrasound intensity.SDT shows great promise for curing tumour clinically in the future.
