Abstract:
Objective To investigate the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of prostate sarcoma. Methods During January 2001 and April 2006,the clinical data of ten cases of prostate sarcoma were retrospectively reviewed in our hospital. We researched the recent reports published in China with a total of 64 cases,40 of them had radical surgery followed by chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. Results Of 10 cases,6 leiomyosarcoma and 4 rhabdomyosarcoma were respectively diagnosed by pathology,6 cases accepted palliative therapy. The median survival time of pallitive therapy group and combined therapy group was (8±3.3)month,(21±11.8)month respectively. The survival rates were significantly difference in two groups(P=0.012). Conclusion Prostatic sarcoma is an aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis. It can be diagnosed properly based on pathological features. Compared with pallitive therapy, combined therapy can improve survival rate with literature review.
