Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the expression of CXCR4 and MMP-2 in human ovarian tumors and to analyze the clinical significance. Methods Expression of CXCR4 and MMP-2 were examined by Immunohistochemistry in normal ovarian tissues, benign ovarian tumors, malignant ovarian carcinoma and peritoneal metastasis. The relationship between expression and biologic characteristic of ovarian carcinoma was analyzed. Results The positive expression of CXCR4 in ovarian cancer was 60%, in peritoneal metastasis 77.8%,which were higher than those in normal ovarian tissues and benign ovarian tumors. The positive expression of MMP-2 in ovarian cancer was 85%, in peritoneal metastasis 100%,which were higher than those in the normal ovarian tissues and benign ovarian tumors . The differences were significant(
P<0.05) . The expression of these two proteins were correlated(
P<0.05). Conclusion CXCR4 and MMP-2 may play great roles in the origin and progression of ovarian carcinoma.
